Fistulina hepatica Fr.
On 16 May, another specimen was found half rot, without stem, sessile and dimidiate. Odour good, taste acidulous, juicy. When broken off the matrix ejecting limpid water, fleshy. With stout stem incrassated above, angular and subcompressed, about 1 1/8 in. l., 1 in. thick at the top, coated with warts apparently abortive pores. Pileus broadly spathulate, flattish, with the back convex marked by lines like back of toad, rufous turning dark chestnut, thick ( about 6/8 in. th. ), margin entire, thick, broadly raised with demarkation, indeed the turned up hymenium glossy, dotted with minute dark chestnut warts and ferruginous brans, minutely fibrillose under lens, obsoletely streaked with a few raised ridges, about 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 in. Hymenium in logwood coloured mottled, pores papillate, minute with the hole on each, distinct but crowded like berries; flesh compact, zoned from the base to the back and forward to the hymenium, like beet-root. Tibes narrower, slender, close to each other, but very much shorter than the thickness of the hymenophorum.

コメント：熊楠の墓がある高山寺で採集されたカンゾウタケである。熊楠は非常に多くのきのこを未記載種としたが、本菌に関してはあっさり既知種に同定しており、胞子の顕微鏡図なども示している。
