Tliforming the growing pericarp of Thea japonica Nois., Nishinotami, leg. Ryokichi Yonemoto, prope Tanabe, Kii, May 26, 1917.
Exobasidium camelliae Shirai ? Deforming the growing pericarp of Thea japonica Nois., into an oblate, irregulasly wavy-bullate body, surface densely corrugated, white, minutely farinaceous, inside rotting and infestedly worms. At first subovoid, depressed at the front, corrugated and scatteredly spinulose, glaucoso-white, bloomy.

コメント：ツバキもち病菌。ツバキ類（ツバキ、サザンカなど）やツツジ類などに発生するカビによって葉が変形して厚くなり、表面に形成される胞子によって白くなって「もち」のようになるのが「もち病」である。熊楠は、きのこばかりでなく、微小な菌類やカビにも興味もち、幅広い観察眼の持ち主であった。
