Amanita (Volvatae) caesarea Scop.
Odour point, not bad, taste insipid. Stem subcylindrical, now compressed above, up to 9 cm. l., erect, up to 2.5 cm. thick, yellow, innato- sericeous, now adpressed with glittering thin pellicles, (at first viscid) ring superior, becoming distant, pendulous, torn, finely striate and now with raised lines striae as well as raised lines continuing upwards to the very top, thin, soft, volva inflated, rather dingy white, soft, watery, smooth, thick, irregularly lobed above, inside hollow, lined with cobweb-like pale tan connate pulp, at the thick obtuse bottom, skin thickish, differentiated from the thicker moist inside, base adhered with earthy mass, apex mealy abruptly but slightly thickening, gradually attenuating from the base, fragile, inside fistulose, juicy, pallid yellow, juice rather mucilaginous. Pileus obtusely conical, then hemispherical then convex then plano-depressed, nearly symmetrical, up to 10 cm. diam., viscid, then dry, shining waxy, bright vermillion at the subumbonate then very flat then depressed centre, periphery rufous tawny brownish, radially adpressedly squamulosse, fibrillose from the remnants of pellicle, smooth and nearly even or very obscurely rugose, the marginal 1/3-1/2losely and distinctly sulcate margin at first straightish, then inflexed, persistently dentate and scalloped closely, fleshy, elastic, but fixed, flesh thin, vanishing for the front 1/3rd or 1/2, juicy, whitish, gamboge-yellow under the thin handly separable cuticle, coarser grained than the stem, continuous but heterogeneous with it. Gills white tinged slightly yellowish, very numerous and close, equal, now with irregularly inserted 2 nd or 3 rd ser., now forked or obfurcate near the front, rather wax, edge minutely denticulato-ciliate, deeper in hue, giving the whole light sulphureous appearance, suface now flexuous, distantly, and broadly lacunose at bottom, moist, tough, emitting sound when stroaked, plane, scarcely adnexed with decurrent tooth, then free, oblanceolate, front very obtuse, thin at edge, thicker below, texture vesiculose, the interstices minutely wrinkled (?).

コメント：田辺闘鶏神社で採集され、セイヨウタマゴタケと同定された標本。現在ではキタマゴタケとされている。熊楠は、F番号を標本ではなく、種のIDとして利用しようとしたフシがあり、本菌も、同一番号で複数の異なる採集日の標本が存在する。
