Tricholoma (Limacina) hilarum Minakata
Subcaespitose or solitary. Smell rather strong, taste sweetish then slightly bitter, flesh rigid. Stem stout, 2 - 2.5 cm long, 5 - 16 mm thick, subcompressed, with the longer axis parallel to or crossing the longer axis of the ellipsoid pileus, subequal or very ventricose, very firm and compact, solid, not fibrillose, continuous and homogeneous with the sporophore, white, base obtuse and obconical with rooting cords, outside near the apex, finely innato-silky under a lens, minutely punctate with yellow flocculose squarrulose dingy white squamules, below minutely streaked with yellow superficial translucent lines that are somewhat reticulating, further down nearly glabrous and tinged with yellow, all tese giving a general appearance of the stem becoming coloured light dull yellow, ringless. Pileus unequal in diam., now quite excentric so as to seem laterally stemed, here and there repand and somewhat irregular, 2.5 - 4.5 cm diam., plano-convex or plano-depressed, light lateritions, at first viscid then dry, smooth, pelliculose, disc broadly glabrous, shining like tale, periphery radially and finely innato-fibrillose under a lens, margin rather closely striate with short obtuse ridges, narrow involute at the extremity, wheech exceed the gills, the firm and compact flesh, rather thin and rather abruptly attenuating. Gills very much crowded, edge thin, dry, tough, making sound when stroked, up to 3 ser. ? , now forked, now crisped and growing into one another, cream-white with yellow edge becoming stained buffish, surface striate crosswise, edge more or less broken becoming erose and notched, narrow, broadest about the middle where 5 mm broad, rounded behind, sinuato- adnexed, and adnexed there seceding, arcuate at the front.
